How to Keep Scorpions out of your Bed

If you live in Arizona, then you are no stranger to pests, especially scorpions. But the fact that they are common in the region doesn’t make them any less of a threat. Scorpions are dangerous and can cause extreme side effects. That’s why you have to keep them out of your house at all costs. If these pests still make way into your home despite your attempts to prevent their entry, the next best thing to do is call professional scorpion control services to come to get rid of them from your house and property. Experts have the right tools and resources to handle a scorpion infestation. They also are knowledgeable about scorpion behaviors and will uncover their activity and hiding spots with ease.

Scorpions love dark areas, so, they tend to hide during the day and come out at night in search of food and moisture. They hide in hard to reach places like antiques, basements, ceilings, cupboards and even inside shoes. It can be hard to realize their presence until they are overpopulated and can’t hide properly anymore.

When you have an infestation, it’s only a matter of time before the scorpions make way into your bedroom. And when they creep into your room, it could only mean one thing – bites (or sleepless nights thinking they will bite at any time). But not to fret, keeping scorpions out of your bed can be as easy as following these steps:

Seal entry points

Scorpions can only get into your bedroom through openings. This could be anything from open windows and doors to cracks and crevices on the walls. They could also get in through ventilation, drains, and ceiling fixtures. So, you may want to ensure that all these spaces are sealed to keep the scorpions out. If scorpions can’t find a way to enter your home, and bedroom, then they won’t come in.

Plant citrus and lavender

Another great way to keep these pests at arm’s length is by growing plants like citrus and lavender around your bedroom. Better yet, you can use lavender sprays in your bedroom because the scent repels scorpions. Citrus is also incredible and works the same way as lavender.  If you suspect scorpion activity in your bedroom, you may want to spray some vinegar throughout the room – this will kill any scorpion in the room and keep others from making an entry.

Clear your backyard

Scorpions love to hide in hard to reach spaces – even outside of your house. They will hide in compost heaps, lumber, firewood, and rocks. So, if you have any of these things lying in your backyard, it may be a good idea to move them meters away or clear them altogether. You should also mow your lawn, trimming any overhanging bushes or branches – especially those that stretch to your bedroom.

Have a dog or cat

If you don’t have a dog or cat already, now may be a perfect time to bring in one. Cats and dogs are excellent predators and will catch and kill any scorpion around your house. In fact, this is the best way to get rid of scorpions naturally.
